Who Are We?

SUPPORTING PEOPLE WITH NEURODIVERGENT ABILITIES TO BE ACTIVE COMMUNITY MEMBERS

Chrisanthemum was established in April 2023. I am a parent of an autistic adult and a former Special Education educator. As we navigated from a high school environment to being an active part of the community, it became apparent that there was a lack of services in our area that helped adults learn social, recreational and job skills that would lead to their success. It is our mission to provide these services and bridge the gap between people with neurodivergent abilities and our community.

We are always looking for more community and skill building activities. Contact us to find out more about how you can help.

Our Services

In House Activities

We will do a variety of daily in-house activities including music and sing-a-longs and crafts, such of making hats, buttons, keychains and bracelets. We will work together on a joke of the week. We will incorporate health and wellness into our day by using pedometers to track our steps. As we grow and develop, more in-house activities may be added to suit the individual needs of our clients.

Community and Service Activities

Our goal is to be active community members. As such, we will participate in area parades, including the annual Syttende Mai parade in Westby. We will do outdoor clean-up activities in area churches and parks. You will see us at area farmers markets with some of the crafts and other items that we produce in-house.

Job Skill Building Activities

We will learn skills that will be beneficial in our future work environments. An example of some of these job skills may be stacking and facing shelves at our local grocery store, delivery of goods from area businesses, assisting at local food pantries and other opportunities as they present themselves with community partnerships.

ABOUT US

Being a part of a community is such an important part of our personal being. A person with neurodivergent abilities or other special needs may need extra support or other accommodations to reach this goal. We strive to help them attain success and to be active in our community through building social skills, job skills and furthering independence and acceptance.

We encourage participation in community activities with our members. This is a photo from a Valentines dance in Holmen, WI that was attended by Chris and some of his peers in 2020.
